You Get What You Pay For With The HP Photosmart D110A Printer

By Eric Huff

When you purchase the HP Photosmart D110A Printer, you are obtaining a low-end printer that does what it says it will. The performance is adequate but the HP Photosmart D110A Wireless e-All-in-One Printer does offer several nice features. It's likely a decent choice for a family who likes printing things for their youngsters. The printer is a breeze to set up, and comes nicely packed, and the only small problem was putting in the cartridges.

The cartridges don't go in the way the installation instructions seem to suggest, but you won't be able to advance if you fail to get it right. If you make a slip installing the cartridge, the printer will inform you and, when you do finally install it correctly, you will have to restart the printer before it works right. The heavy-duty canvas carrying bag is a nice addition. HP Photosmart D110A printer can be set up easily by following the simple directions. When you install the software package, it will recognize the printer immediately.

The advertisements saystate that it is a printer for pics, and it does okay but certainly not great. When you look at the pictures closely, you'll notice print lines which are markedly apparent on skin areas. The printer does fine on other print jobs where fine details are not that important. This printer works well in a home setting but it isn't fast enough to be used in an office situation. A Canon PIXMA MX860 prints much faster and does photos better, but it also costs more and is a lot bulkier. You definitely get what you pay for with this printer.

The scans are fine with the Photosmart, but to have any control, you will have to scan using the software installed on your computer. Using the controls on the printer doesn't always work the way it should, sometimes scanning only half of a page, or reversing the layout. Also, there is no way to feed paper, as only one page can be scanned at any time. Not only that, it only scans as images, so if you want some text, you will need some additional software. Although it does not fax, it does a decent job of copying. If you need a fax machine, this one won't work, but who uses fax machines any longer? This highlights yet another cause for not using this printer in an office.

HP Photosmart D110A Printer features 2 web functions, one is the ePrint function, and the other is called Print Apps. The ePrint function enables a registered user to take anything from the web, and print it to the HP Photosmart D110A, and with the other one you register online at HP's site for print apps. Your Photosmart is available with a number of apps already installed. This is a low-end printer that will work nicelt for many people.
