Is It Enough to Have Only a Cup of Coffee?

By Jeremy Saints

According to the dictionary for gourmet food is, "Gourmet food is that which is of the highest quality, perfectly prepared and artfully presented." If you want the maximum quality food you go to a star class restaurant, but if you want the premier quality coffee, this can be achieved by you at home. That gourmet meal is in all probability staying at the restaurant where you ate, unless you become friends with the chef and invite him over, but as for the cup of gourmet coffee you can make it where ever you desire. Gourmet coffee is more expensive than the standard supermarket brands, but there is simply no comparison in the quality of the coffee. If you are wealthy then you could enjoy such gourmet coffee when ever you wanted, otherwise it would be a nice thing to keep for weekends or when ever you had special company over for a visit.

Premium coffee has been around for years, but not quite in the variety that it's available today. Now you can even go online to order almost any type of coffee beans you'd like. You can order world coffee from many different countries to try all the different coffee blends. You can order Kona coffee or strong coffee. By referring to todays market, there are too much choice we can choose.

Do you have a old coffee machine and not happy with the taste after brew?, why don't start cleaning it. A clean coffee machine will brew better tasting coffee. All you have to do is pour a pot of half vinegar and half water into the coffee maker's water reservoir. It goes without saying that white vinegar should be used. Steer clear of the red wine or apple cider vinegar varieties. Then just turn on the regular brew cycle.

You're kitchen will probably have a nice salad smell while it's brewing which you may even like. If you're not a salad fan though, just remember that it's a small price to pay for a good cup of coffee. Now rinse the coffee brewer out by using only water this time in the water reservoir and running the brew cycle again. You may have to do this a few more times if you still smell vinegar. Another easy way to keep the coffee maker clean is to put a glass marble in the water chamber. All the mineral deposits that would usually accumulate inside the coffee maker will instead accumulate on the marble. Every once in a while just remove the marble, wash it and then place it back in the chamber.

Coffee should always be made from fresh beans as the quality diminishes rapidly with age. This is quite noticeable when comparing a supermarket grade coffee with a coffee made from freshly ground beans at a coffee shop. Keep in mind the supermarket coffees generally have a lower blend quality and in many cases the blends also have a proportion of older beans to reduce the production costs. The only way you can be assured of quality and taste is to buy fresh gourmet quality. Once you have acquired the taste for gourmet coffee you might never want to drink commercial grade coffee again. You can choose to buy coffee from different countries over the globe and each one has it's own unique flavor.

Automatic drip coffee machines are the most widely used coffee makers by the American consumer. This type of coffee brewer also has the versatility to make from one to usually ten cups of coffee at a time. There are also specialized one cup coffee machines which make use of the automatic drip method. The automatic drip coffee brewer uses disposable filters, unlike the percolator style coffee makers.
